KABIBE- BIOMIMICRY

Year 2 Project 1 Sem 1

LASALLE College of the Arts

Singapore

2020

This project was about understanding the concept of biomimicry. My chosen animal was a Clam and I studied it's movement, ingestion and excretory cycles as well as it's shape. The end product was a mask storage and decontamination device for everyday homes that reinforces individuals to sanitize their hands as well as facilitate a designated place to store their masks at home. The device uses UVC light LEDs to decontaminate the mask essentially weakening the COVID-19 strain of virus and subsequently causing it to die on the surface of the mask.

I worked on this project entirely from home during the lockdown due to COVID-19 in Singapore- therefore wanted to come up with something appropriate to the times.

Sketches and Ideation

Prototyping and testing

Basic prototypes to better understand the device's usage to find the best way to put the mask in the device so that all the mask's surfaces can be exposed to the ultraviolet light.
